Scent Stories was founded by Anca Jalba, perfume curator and researcher, after a single fragrance brought her back to her grandmother's tomato garden in the middle of a long burnout.
That moment became a method. Drawing on collaborations with sensory science institutes including Nofima, Anca translates the neuroscience of smell into a quieter, more intentional way of choosing perfume - one rooted in memory, identity, and the chapter of life you're living right now.

How is the Scent Story Consultation different from a typical perfume quiz?
Most online quizzes match you to a fragrance based on the notes you say you like — bergamot, sandalwood, vanilla. We do the opposite. Over fifteen questions, we ask about the chapter of life you're choosing a scent for, the memory you want to anchor, and the way you want to feel in your skin. Then a human reads your answers and curates three fragrances we believe will resonate. The result isn't a match. It's an interpretation.
What happens after I complete the consultation?
Your responses are sent directly to Anca, our founder and lead curator. She personally reads each consultation and hand-selects three fragrances from our collection that align with your story. Within 24 hours, you receive a detailed email with your Scent Profile, the reasoning behind each recommendation, and the option to order a discovery set with all three. There is no automated response, and no algorithm in between.
What if none of the recommendations feel like me?
It happens, and we expect it to. Scent is intimate, and a first reading is rarely a final one. Reply to your Scent Profile email and tell us what didn't land — too sweet, too quiet, too unfamiliar. Anca will revise the curation at no cost, as many times as it takes. The consultation is a conversation, not a verdict.
